Fertility Midwife
Evangelia Nikolopoulou studied Midwifery at the Technical Education Institute of Athens, from which she graduated in 2011 with a Merit. She is a Master’s student on the “Research for Women’s Health” course at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in collaboration with the Midwifery Department of the University of West Attica.
She completed her 6-month work placement at the Nafplio General Hospital and completed her dissertation title “Postpartum depression in relation to changes in body weight”, achieving a Distinction (10/10).
She began working at the Cosmopolitan Centre “Hellenic Cosmos” as a nurse during the children’s summertime program, where she undertook the organization of the Museum’s medicines and medical equipment and trained staff on courses for injury prevention.
From 2011, she has been working at the Woman Center as a midwife, actively participating in informing, caring for and supporting patients who visit the Center. She is by every patient’s side throughout the whole process of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), at their disposal to answer any questions or provide information, encouraging them psychologically. She provides counselling via telephone or electronic communication, daily. At the same time, she carries out personalized session to guide the pregnant women or mother through her new role, and she promotes breast feeding via 1-to-1 seminars she organizes. She is present during the labor, and she supports mothers during postpartum, whilst also contributing to the preparation of couples for their new chapters as parents.
During her career she has attended many conferences and seminars regarding midwifery, gynecology, breastfeeding and IVF. Her desire to provide the best care possible keeps her motivated to stay informed on all the latest developments.
She speaks fluent English and French.
She is a member of the Society of Scientists Midwifes and Obstetricians of Athens (ΣΕΜΜΑ).
